WHO WE ARE

VidaNet exists to develop global disciples of Jesus Christ through intensive discipleship and mission experiences.

WHAT IS A GLOBAL DISCIPLE?

A disciple of Jesus Christ is a person becoming more like Jesus, dying to oneself and being fully surrendered and alive to Jesus.   A “global” disciple of Jesus has a broader worldview than just his own culture. A global disciple has grappled with cross-cultural issues and learned to live in a multi-cultural community.

WHAT Does INTENSIVE DISCIPLESHIP MEAN?

Discipleship is a process of becoming more like Jesus Christ. Discipleship can happen while washing dishes, studying the Bible, going for walks, working a job, and going to church. It happens in real life.  Yet there are at times opportunities to step away from “regular” life and have a more unique intense period of discipleship.  These happen for many Christians at camps, retreats, colleges, and more.  VidaNet provides intensive discipleship opportunities including Vida220’s 10 months, VidaMissions ten days, training intensives and other opportunities.  We believe Jesus can meet people in unique ways in these “greenhouse” environments where away from other distractions and nurtured in their faith, they may receive healing, grow rapidly, and be prepared to launch into their calling in life.

Statement of Faith

OUR BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Jon Showalter
john@vidanet.org
Jon and his wife, Dawn, live in Rosedale, Ohio, most of the time. Early in their marriage they served for several years as apprentice church planters in Ecuador, an experience that has shaped their understanding of the church and global missions ever since. After returning to Ohio for graduate school, Jon was invited to teach a class at Rosedale Bible College, and that relationship turned into twenty-five years of teaching courses in history, theology and ethics. Along the way, Jon and Dawn have also lived for months or years in China, North Africa and Costa Rica. They are the parents of four young-adult sons—all married—and are loving their new role as grandparents.
