Hello, this is Osny Romero, part of the Vidanet staff in Honduras, where we are surrounded by a tropical climate, mountains with peculiar names, a lake very close to us and some fruit trees that we have delighted in. Everything seemed to be normal for training to start with the new school in Honduras and what we had originally planned, but God had something totally different for each one of us.
We arrived in Honduras after many hours of traveling from Costa Rica and the craziest thing was that when we arrived in Honduras, the first case of coronavirus occurred in Costa Rica. We started to move and do some errands, to prepare to receive the new students that we were so excited to meet.
Then Saturday, March 7 came, we went to San Pedro Sula very early in the morning to have breakfast and a small meeting with our leaders, then the task to go pick up the students at the airport and then to the bus terminal, and thank God everything went well! Thus we started the training phase of Vida220, the first weeks passed without incident and as I said at the beginning, it seemed that it would be a normal training… until the coronavirus entered the scene in all Central America.
We started the quarantine time, with some complications such as restrictions on leaving and asking God for direction to make the best decisions as a school and ministry. This school has taken a 180 degree turn and the zoom platform has been one of the tools that God put in our hands to be able to continue with the teachings. We go day by day, with virtual classes, working at the base and some recreational activities with our students during the week. God has been faithful and we see how he is acting in this situation.
This school is something very peculiar: we have a more Latino presence and the majority of our students are from Honduras which definitely affects the school culturally. The students as a whole are excited and full of energy which has been a great thing to see but also a challenge as well. However, we keep moving through this situation and see how in this season God is not only watching over us, but he is doing great things in the lives of the students.
I ask for your prayers that God keeps giving us wisdom and discernment as we take our steps one at a time.
