Serve The Lord Enthusiastically

“Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord.” Romans 12:11

In the last few months we have been able to experience a lot of movement at Camp VidaNet; it is beautiful to see God working in each of the ministries. We have had the opportunity to serve a group of youth from our local church using Alpha. We have also helped Pastor Alexis with his youth group and working with churches. It has been nice to have more staff too because this way we can reach out to more people. For example, this past weekend with the staff, we had the opportunity to go to a church in a community that was quite conflictive due to gangs. There, we were able to host a dinner and invite many people that are suffering from different situations including gangs. To our surprise, more than 40 people arrived and it was nice to share, listen to them. We had also had the opportunity to pray for them. It is nice to see how God is moving and opening doors in the middle of difficult situations and how he allows us as a group to serve and learn from others.

Another thing that has had a big impact on me for almost a year and a half is El Nido. I serve as coordinator here in Honduras. We started with one mother, and currently work with 16 mothers, with whom some are teenagers. I remember in one of my one-on-one meetings with one of the mothers, her name is Sara; she is 13 years old, and she is struggling economically. In my meeting with her, I asked her what has been her favourite part of the month. To which she responded, the nicest thing that happened to me this month was going to El Nido. Maria is part of El Nido, and one day God put it in her heart to invite Wendy to El Nido to have some coffee. When I met Wendy, I asked her the same question, to which she replied that the nicest thing for her had been to go for a drink of coffee with Maria since no one had invited her to have coffee before. And last December I invited them to the Christmas party. When I announced the party, I could have seen happiness on their faces. Many of these women have never been to a party like this.

Sometimes small things that can often be normal for us can be something very huge and extraordinary; small things can change a person’s day. Being part of the base here allows me and the staff here to be part of what God is doing in small things and see his transformation. May all of us, wherever we are located, do everything with love just as Christ loved us.
